What is Jillian Michaels Body Revolution?
Jillian Michaels Body Revolution is a 90-day extreme workout. Each workout is 30 minutes long, including warm up and cool down. The workout is broken down into 3 months, which are called phases. Each month there is a specific cardio that is done for all 4 weeks.
Who is Jillian Michaels?
If you don’t know who Jillian Michaels is, have you been living under a rock? Nah I’m just playing. Jillian Michaels is a celebrity trainer, who has been on TV shows like The Biggest Loser, and has created many work outs over the years. She has written books, created cook books, and meal plans to go along with her workouts. Jillian has been around for while, and is known for having very intense workout methods that get results!
I love and have always loved Jillian Michaels. With her being known to have such hard workouts, I feel like such a bad ass when I finish each time.
What you are getting with Body Revolution
Body Revolution comes with 15 DVDs, which includes 12 workouts, and 3 phase cardio workouts. The schedule changes every 2 weeks, leaving one rest day a week.
Phase 1 workouts are as follows;
You alternate the first two workouts for 2 weeks, keeping one day for rest each week. Then you move on to the next two workouts, 3 and 4, keeping cardio one for the first phase. Every two weeks you get to move on to the next two workouts, never repeating previous ones.
As like any workout, as you progress in the program, it gets harder and harder. Phase one is meant to be more of an introduction of what to come. There is always a modifier if necessary, and for the more advanced, Jillian always gives a harder option.
You will need a set of light, medium and heavy weights, along with a resistance band to complete these workouts.
I used 3, 5, and 8 lb weights for the workouts, and a medium resistance band.
I have followed Jillian Michaels for Many years and have always enjoyed her workouts. They have made me push myself to better myself. Ever since I did her 30 day shred, I have continued to do many of her workouts. I was so excited when I saw that she had a 90 day work out plan. I like to have a routine, and schedule to follow, so this was right up my alley.
To start, I did not follow the meal plan. I follow a dairy free/paleo-ish diet already, and I don’t like to mess with that. It works for me and my health, and I am not looking to lose weight, I am looking to be the healthiest I can be, get my heart rate up, and blood pumping each day.
Month one was easy for me. The first two weeks were more of an introduction to the basics. All the cardio was low impact, but enough to get your heart rate up.
Advancing after week two, there was no stopping. It got more and more challenging. I really enjoyed it! The last two weeks REALLY kicked my butt.
My Final Thoughts
Would I recommend Body Revolution? I absolutely would! I enjoyed it so much, and I loved the variety. In the last month, every day was a challenge.
Is this workout for everyone? This is a hard question, because, although very intesnse, there are modifying options to moves. I believe anyone can do anything they put their mind to, but I would also recommend consulting your physician if you are unsure this is for you, and you want to do it.
I didn’t go into this workout thinking it was going to be easy. Come on! It’s Jillian! Don’t expect anything easy from Jillian! I expected to challenge and push myself.
Jillian Michaels Body Revolution is advertised as an intense weight loss work out program. I did it to build muscle, get toned, and stronger. I feel I accomplished that! Since completing the 90 days I feel I am stronger and ready to take on something new that will challenge me even more.
My only complaint about this, is I wish there was some type of recovery workout included. Sundays are the day of rest to recover, but I would’ve liked to see some kind of stretch and recovery workout.
I did do yoga, or my own stretching, to recover my muscles, on the day off, to start fresh with the new. week. But it would’ve been cool to see something to go along with this workout. That’s hardly a complaint though.
Depending on our everyday lives, we can stand, sit, or even run after a two-year-old all day. By the end of the day, our body can feel sore and achy, and this interferes with our sleep. After working a desk job for eight years, having my first child, and now running...
A gym membership now a day can cost a crazy amount. And how often is that gym membership being used after a long week? Most of us are busy taking care of a family, working, or whatever it is we spend our time with that we don’t want to take the time to go to the...
Each year I go through fitness phases, depending on the season. Living in Michigan, during some season I am restricted on what I can and can't do when working out. In the summer, when the weather is warm, I want to enjoy it, but also stick to my...
